20th Annual Sponsored Walk

Location: Plaça Sant Jaume, Roda de Bera Mar.

This is Freesia Group’s 20th annual sponsored walk to raise money for the cancer charities we support here in Spain.

This year Kay has organised a fantastic day out walking over the beautiful Camino de Ronda which winds itself along the rocky coast at Rode de Bera, some 30km north of Tarragona.

This 20th Annual Sponsored Walk event will be held on Saturday 2nd March starting at 11:00am from the street Plaça Sant Jaume close to the beach. The meeting place is at the bar/restaurant Amar, previously known as La Despensa, on the same street.

This pre-planned walk starts at 11:00am from the Plaça Sant Jaume and continues past the Roc de Sant Gaieta and along the Camino de Ronda to the long beach at the other end close to Creixell before returning back through the stunning Roc de Sant Gaieta and the Port of Roda.

The planned route takes in some fantastic sea views and the surrounding rocky coves and beaches before bringing you back down to the Restaurant La Varada ready for lunch and a chance to rest those tired and weary legs.

The estimated distance covered will be about 6km with a small elevations and steps during the walk. But most of the distance is reasonably flat and easy to do along the paved walkway.

The Restaurant La Varada has offered us at the normal price of 18.50 euros, a traditional 3-course menu which includes a glass of wine, a glass of beer, water, refresco all included in the price.

La Varada’s menu of the day for Freesia includes:

First Course:

• Calçots en Tempura
• Espaguetis al ajillo con Gambitas
• Mejillones Marinera
• Crema de Verduras

Second Course:

• Lubina al horno
• Bacalao a la llauna
• Rabo de toro
• Parillada (conejo, pollo, butifarra, choricito)
• Entrecot (sup. 2.5€)
• Paella (sup 3.0€)

Dessert:

• Crema Catalana
• FlanMel i Mato
• Tarta Santiago
• Brownie
• Tarrina de Helado

This a fully organised Freesia Event and is open to everyone who wishes to attend. Those wishing to participate can get sponsored or just pay 5 euro on the day to take part. Don’t forget that all the money raised goes to our supported cancer charities here in Spain.

It will be a great day out for all those who enjoy walking, trekking and sports in general as well as raising well need funds for our cancer supporting charities. So get there early to warm-up and enjoy the atmosphere before the long walk ahead.
